A few weeks ago, our team went to Kansai, Japan to finalize the launching of a global web app for a Fortune 500 giant in the automotive industry. Every time our team goes abroad, we always marvel at how people in developed nations live with dignity and efficiency. And every time we come home, we always ask why can't the Philippines be one of them Why can't the Philippines break the chains of poverty and become a wealthy nation alongside its global peers
History has shown us that developing technology is the best antidote to poverty. Singapore, Japan, South Korea and many other neighboring developed nations all followed the path of creating world-class technology to develop their own economies.
In a nation where the primary export is not goods and services but people in the form of OFWs, we also need to build our own technology as a nation so we can take a definite and concrete path to prosperity.
But the path is not going to be easy.
Extraordinary goals require extraordinary effort.We need more engineers on our team who believe in what we are trying to accomplish, but more importantly, who believe in their own abilities and strengths. We need more engineers who don't think that we will accomplish our goals one day, someday, rather that it's only a matter of time, a question of not if but when.
A word of caution: working here is
HARD, not because of lack of work-life balanceour engineering team enjoys a strict 40 hour work week and extensions, which rarely happen, require prior approval. It is hard because our sights are set far beyond what has ever been achieved by a company from this part of the world. There is no shortcut to success. Impossible is not part of our vocabulary.
