Your day at NTT DATA
The Associate Facilities Planner is an entry level subject matter expert, responsible for learning the skills to support the assessment, planning, and management of the capacity and resources of physical facilities, particularly data centers and related infrastructure.
This role works under guidance to perform the relevant activities that ensures that the organization's facilities can support current and future IT needs while maintaining efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
What You'll Be Doing
Key Responsibilities:
- Under guidance, regularly assesses the current building/office utilities and maintenances, office spaces, and other facilities to determine their ability to meet existing and anticipated client requirements.
- Learns how to collaborate with a team and other stakeholders to forecast future capacity needs based on business growth, technology trends, and project requirements.
- Under guidance, develops and maintains space utilization plans that optimize the use of available floor space, including UPS, PACU, VRF system, CCTV and ACS, office workstations, and support infrastructure.
- Assists with allocating resources such as power, cooling, and networking infrastructure to ensure they align with the demand for client services and equipment.
- Learns how to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements, including consolidation, virtualization, and energy-saving initiatives, to maximize the use of existing resources.
- Supports with generating reports and dashboards that provide insights into facility capacity utilization, future requirements, and potential bottlenecks.
- Under guidance, develops plans and strategies for scaling facilities in response to client needs, including expansion, consolidation, or relocation.
- Under guidance, learns how to ensure that facility planning, and capacity management align with industry standards, compliance requirements, and best practices.
- Under guidance, assesses and mitigates risks related to capacity shortages, resource constraints, and facility vulnerabilities.
- Performs any other related task as required.
Knowledge and Attributes:
- Some analytical and quantitative skills to assess capacity data, perform forecasting, and make data-driven decisions.
- Some familiarity with data center technologies, including server hardware, networking, power distribution, and cooling systems.
- Some proficiency in budgeting, cost analysis, and financial planning.
- Some project management skills to oversee capacity expansion projects and resource allocation initiatives.
- Good communication and collaboration skills to work with facility managers, and stakeholders.
- Displays problem-solving abilities to address capacity-related challenges and bottlenecks.
Academic Qualifications and Certifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, facilities management, or a related field.
- Industry certifications such as Certified Facility Manager (CFM), Project Management Professional (PMP), or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) are beneficial.
Required Experience:
- Entry level of experience in facilities capacity planning, building/office maintenance, data center management, with a strong understanding in facility infrastructure.
- Entry level of experienced in managing and optimising space, power, cooling, and network resources.
- Entry level of proficiency in forecasting future capacity needs based on business growth, technology trends, and project requirements.
- Entry level of proficiency in capacity management tools and software, including capacity planning software and data center infrastructure management (DCIM) systems.
- Entry level of experience in computer-aided design (CAD) software for facility layouts and space utilization studies.
