Job Summary:
Responsible for supporting the financial planning and analysis activities of an organization. This role involves analyzing financial data, developing budgets, forecasting future financial performance, and providing recommendations to senior management to support strategic decision-making. The FP&A Specialist collaborates with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze financial information, identify trends, and communicate insights to key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Planning: Assist in the development of the organization's annual budget by gathering and analyzing financial data from various sources. Collaborate with departmental managers to understand their budgetary requirements and ensure alignment with overall corporate goals and objectives.
- Forecasting and Reporting: Prepare financial forecasts, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Monitor actual financial performance against forecasts, analyze variances, and provide explanations to management. Generate periodic financial reports and presentations for senior management and stakeholders.
- Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth analysis of financial data to identify trends, patterns, and key drivers of business performance. Provide insights and recommendations based on the analysis to improve operational efficiency, profitability, and overall financial performance.
- Cost Analysis: Analyze and evaluate costs associated with various business activities, projects, and initiatives. Identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and resource optimization. Collaborate with business partners to develop cost-effective strategies.
- Budget Management: Monitor and track budget performance throughout the fiscal year. Work closely with departmental managers to ensure adherence to budget guidelines and address any budgetary issues or concerns. Recommend adjustments as necessary to optimize resource allocation.
- Financial Modeling: Develop and maintain financial models to support business planning, investment decisions, and scenario analysis. Assess the financial impact of potential business initiatives, mergers and acquisitions, or other strategic projects.
- Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Proven experience in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis.
- Strong understanding of financial principles, concepts, and accounting practices.
- Proficiency in financial modeling and data analysis using spreadsheet software (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets).
- Familiarity with financial software systems (e.g., ERP, financial planning tools).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of industry best practices and emerging trends in financial planning and analysis.
- CPA preferred
