Position: Actuarial Analyst
Qualifications:
Scope of duties and responsibilities:
Portfolio Monitoring
1.Compiles, maintains and regularly updates the company's inwards portfolio database for all local and foreign reinsurance contracts, treaty and facultative
2.Assists in the quarterly reporting of the company's current portfolio statistics
Treaty and Facultative Pricing
1.Audits, validates and cleanses data for the purpose of catastrophe modeling and reinsurance pricing
2.Coordinates with underwriters and/or brokers in getting required and relevant data for analysis
3.Communicates data issues, if any, with underwriters, brokers or clients
4.Performs experience and exposure rating using tools available to Nat Re
5.Calculates technical rates and communicate methods on how these were calculated to underwriters and technical reviewers
6.Accomplishes the Cat Modeling and Reinsurance Pricing Report, including proper documentation of the assumptions, methods used and results
7.Monitors actual versus technical rates
8.Acts as a technical reviewer to colleagues cat modeling and pricing work
Industry Related Research
Prepares or assists in any type of research related the insurance industry (development, practices, regulations, etc.) or any other factors affecting the company or the Philippine industry
Industry Statistics and Reinsurance Benchmarking
1.Assists in the Industry Statistics and Market Benchmark study
2.Analyzes relevant statistics used by the Philippine insurance industry in setting and structuring reinsurance contracts
Maintenance and Use of Actuarial Tools
1.Ensures a comprehensive understanding and use of tools available to the company to calculate technical rates and profitability, including a working knowledge of the concepts behind the calculations, outputs and components
2.Contributes to the maintenance and optimum use of available pricing, DFA and actuarial tools
3.Proactively participates in the all communication between vendors and internal stakeholders on issues relating to the use of actuarial modeling tools and software, which may include, but not limited to the evaluation model components and outputs, model version change and latest industry best practices
4.Assists in the evaluation of tools available and used by the company and recommends improvements based on sound actuarial principles
Retrocession Purchase
Compiles and updates the company's statistics (treaty and facultative) as a requirement for creating the retro information pack
Other company requirement (Rating agency, risk management and IC submissions)
Prepares data and analysis necessary to fulfill the requirements of the regulators and rating agencies
Training and Knowledge Sharing
1. Presents and conducts training sessions, ensuring the effective and efficient communication of key concepts and analysis results and outcomes to colleagues and external customers
2. Mentors colleagues and be a resource for the review of technical pricing and DFA work
3. Pursues further training and actuarial studies to ensure analytical expertise is strengthened
4. Keeps abreast of latest of industry best practices in the field of reinsurance, technical pricing and reinsurance optimization
Team Management
1. Proactively participates in the process of setting and measuring annual objectives and development plans for self that is in line with management goals
2. Motivates and develops others through sharing relevant information, ideas and knowledge, assisting the development of less experienced team member's skills
