Job Title: Accounting Supervisor (US)
Hybrid (Mon-Fri, 3:00pm to 12:00mn)
Oversee the month-end and year-end closing process, including preparation of audit schedules, financial statements and notes to the financial statements.
- Keep engagement partner informed and updated on engagement progress, engagement issues, and team status and needs.
Knowledgeable on complex accounting issues and treatment, proficient in accounting research.- Responsible for preparing monthly financial statements, including statement of financial position, statement of activities, statement of functional expenses, and analysis on changes in financial position and budget variances.
Review reconciliations for significant balance sheet accounts and various other general ledger accounts, as needed; and review month-end closing entries including payroll, fringe, indirect allocations, investment allocations, and grant allocations.
- Maintain deep understanding of the accounting operations within each assigned client.
Proficient knowledge of the clients accounting software packages.- Responsible for recommending and enforcing the internal controls, policies, and procedures, established by the client.
Lead the engagement team in preparation for clients audits as the main contact with external auditors.
- Manage the preparation of our clients 990 and tax forms and year end preparation of their 1099's.
Recommend, design, and implement any necessary policy controls and procedures.- Other duties may include, but are not limited to: budget preparation, review, modification, Grant reporting to private/federal funders, Drafting of Policies and Procedures, review and payment of client payables in third party software, client billing, drafting of engagement letters.
- What will make you a great fit:
A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration or other related field.- CPA or CPA Candidate, MBA or MBA Candidate or candidate for other relevant certification.
Supervisory experience required.
- 5+ years of accounting experience in Public Accounting or at a Non-Profit organization preferred.
Proficient with various accounting software programs including but not limited to QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, Solomon and Great Plains.- Proficient in the use of Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
Ability to conduct analytical reviews and exhibit an understanding of complex accounting theory.
- A deep understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
Strong problem solving and analytical skills and proactive initiative.- Professionalism and relationship building skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to work in a matrixed environment.
Ability to keep up to date with industry trends and technology developments
