Job Role: Senior Accountant
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 9 AM - 5 PM (AU Time Zone)
Salary range: 2400 - 2900 AUD

Who The Client Is: The client is a family law lending specialist transforming Australia's personal legal services market with innovative lending solutions that fundamentally change the experience and outcomes for individuals and family law firms. Their launch offering provides legal funding to individuals who are going through the complex, stressful and financially challenging process of marital separation so they can pay their legal fees.
Role Overview: The Senior Accountant will play a key role in supporting the finance team by handling a broad range of accounting tasks, including reconciliations, payroll processing, accounts payable/receivable management, and compliance. This position is essential in bringing accounting functions in-house, ensuring data integrity, and supporting the Finance Director with financial reporting and analysis. Proficiency in Xero and prior experience in Australian accounting standards are required (with experience in New Zealand and US practices considered an advantage
Responsibilities:
Accounting and Reconciliation:
- Ability to prepare and analyze financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
- Maintain accurate financial records and ledgers, including reconciliations for bank accounts, credit cards, GST, payroll, intercompany accounts, and other control accounts
- Perform timely end-of-month and end-of-year processes, ensuring data integrity and accuracy of financial information
Accounts Payable/Receivable Management:
- Process vendor invoices, payments, including contractor payments
- Manage client invoice processing, repayments, and ensure accurate accounts receivable management
Payroll Administration:
- Execute payroll processing, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and timely superannuation payments
- Reconcile payroll accounts and related expenses regularly
Financial Reporting and Compliance:
- Prepare monthly financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements and variance analysis
- Preparation of quarterly GST returns and other regulatory filings as needed
Loan portfolio accounting:
- Assist our loan portfolio management team with daily bank reconciliations, repayment tracking, bank account confirmations and loan reconciliations
Assist with budget monitoring and ad hoc analysis
- Experience with implementing new finance systems and SaaS tools to optimize workflows and enhance financial reporting capabilities would be advantageous
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from a respected Philippine university
- CA, CPA, or equivalent certification is desired
- 5+ years of relevant accounting experience, with proficiency in Xero
- Prior experience in a start-up as an Accounting Managercountant for an Australian-based company and strong understanding of Australian accounting standards
- Experience with New Zealand and US accounting practices is a plus
