Job Summary:
The Accounting Manager for our restaurant business will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of our operations, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing strategic financial guidance to support our business growth. This role plays a crucial part in monitoring and maintaining the financial health and sustainability of our restaurant.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Accounting and Reporting:
- Review and approve daily and month end closing entries
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Monitor financial performance and analyze variances to budget and previous periods.
- Regulatory and Tax Compliance:
- Ensure the restaurant complies with all national and local tax regulations.
- Prepare and file accurate and timely tax returns, including withholding tax, income tax, VAT, payroll and other reports.
- Identify tax-saving opportunities and strategies.
- Disbursements Review
- Review daily disbursements to ensure accurate and timely payments to suppliers.
- Oversee accounts payable processes, ensuring timely payment of vendors.
- Collections and Accounts Receivable
- Review and monitor cash and charge sales
- Ensure proper cash management and safekeeping
- Manage accounts receivable to maximize cash flow.
- Inventory Management:
- Implement and maintain effective inventory control processes to minimize food and beverage wastage.
- Perform regular inventory audits and reconciliation.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Develop and manage the restaurant's annual budget and financial forecasts.
- Monitor budget performance and provide recommendations for cost control and revenue enhancement.
- Compliance and Regulatory Adherence:
- Stay current with changes in restaurant accounting standards and tax laws.
- Ensure the restaurant follows health and safety regulations related to financial transactions.
- Financial Analysis:
- Analyze financial data to provide insights into the restaurant's performance, such as food cost percentages, labor cost percentages, and other key metrics.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and revenue growth.
- Team Management:
- Supervise and lead the accounting team, providing guidance and training as needed.
- Communication:
- Effectively communicate financial information to restaurant management and ownership.
- Collaborate with external partners, such as auditors and tax professionals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. CPA preferred.
Proven experience in accounting and tax management, preferably in the restaurant or food service industry.- Strong knowledge of restaurant accounting practices and tax regulations.
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Good written and verbal communication skills- Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
