Job Description

Job Title: Accounting Manager

Reports To: Legal and Finance Head
Location: Cubao, Quezon City, Metro Manila
Department: Accounting
  • Job Purpose:
The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the accuracy and integrity of the accounting operations, compliance with financial laws and standards, and managing the department's strategic financial objectives.
  • Job Summary:
This leadership role encompasses managing comprehensive financial systems, timely reporting and compliance, guiding financial decisions, and fostering a culture of accountability within the accounting department.

  • Key Result Areas and Functions:

I. Strategic Oversight and Compliance
  • Oversee the monthly and annual financial closing processes.
Develop and maintain accounting policies that comply with GAAP.
  • Enforce adherence to financial laws and standards across all accounting functions.
Monitor the implementation of internal controls and audit mechanisms.
  • Conduct quarterly reviews of compliance protocols and update them as necessary.
Lead regular training sessions on regulatory changes and compliance requirements.

II. Financial Supervision and Reporting
  • Supervise the preparation of accurate and detailed financial statements.
Analyze financial reports to identify trends, opportunities, and areas of concern.
  • Coordinate the timely resolution of discrepancies in financial data.
Validate the accuracy of financial information through cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Present financial reports and findings to senior management and stakeholders.

III. Team Leadership and Development
  • Set clear performance standards and evaluate staff against established metrics.
Identify and promote opportunities for professional development and training.
  • Manage recruitment and retention strategies to build a high-performing team.
Facilitate a team environment that encourages knowledge sharing and best practice implementation.
  • Conduct bi-annual performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.

IV. Operational Efficiency and Resource Management
  • Streamline accounting processes to reduce cycle times for financial transactions.
Manage budget allocations and perform cost-benefit analyses on major expenditures.
  • Implement new financial management software to improve data processing and reporting.
Review and adjust financial practices to optimize resource use.
  • Track and report on efficiency gains and resource utilization.

V. Stakeholder Engagement and Communication
  • Communicate critical financial matters to senior executives and the board of directors.
Resolve financial issues by negotiating with external partners and regulators.
  • Provide regular updates on financial status to relevant stakeholders.
Facilitate workshops and meetings to align financial strategy with organizational goals.
  • Enhance stakeholder understanding of complex financial reports through clear presentations.
  • Job Qualifications:
  • A. Education and Training:
Bachelor's degree in Accountancy required.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required.
  • B. Experience and Knowledge:
3-5 years of work experience in an accounting role.
  • Familiarity with accounting principles, compliance protocols, and financial control systems.
  • C. Competencies:
Leadership and Strategic Management: Ability to devise financial strategies and effectively guide their execution, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
Analytical and Detail-Oriented: Capacity for conducting detailed financial analysis with high accuracy; adept at scrutinizing complex data to derive meaningful insights.Communication: Proficient in articulating complex financial information clearly and persuasively to various audiences, both in writing and orally.
  • Problem Solving: Skilled in identifying financial discrepancies and operational issues swiftly; capable of formulating and implementing effective solutions.
Technological Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in utilizing contemporary financial management software and data analysis tools, enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of financial operations.
